Tarique Rahman to be prime minister: Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has announced that BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will be the country's future prime minister. He said Tarique Rahman will lead Bangladesh within the next few days.

He made this statement at a post-election press conference at the Hotel Intercontinental in the capital on Saturday, February 14. Tarique Rahman was also present on the stage at that time.

Mirza Fakhrul said the recent election has proven that the party is united under Tarique Rahman's leadership, and the people of the country are also united. He further remarked that the election has resulted in a victory for liberal democracy.

Among the members of BNP's standing committee present at the press conference were Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Nazrul Islam Khan, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Salahuddin Ahmed, Selima Rahman, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain.
