Tarique Rahman to become voter in Dhaka-17 Constituency

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his daughter Zaima Rahman have completed the online application process to become registered voters.

They will be enrolled in Dhaka-17, specifically in DNCC Ward-19 covering the Gulshan area. Their National Identity (NID) cards are expected to be issued within 5 to 24 hours of completing the registration process.

ASM Humayun Kabir, director general of the NID Wing, confirmed the development to journalists on Saturday (December 27).

He said Tarique and his daughter only need to complete biometric verification through fingerprint and iris scanning for registration to be finalised.

“The software will automatically check the submitted data against existing records. If no match is found, NID numbers will be generated within 5 to 24 hours. The process does not depend on our office. The NID or smart card can be collected from us or downloaded via a message sent to their mobile phones,” he explained.

Tarique Rahman’s registration is scheduled to be completed by Saturday afternoon.
