Tarique Rahman to become voter on Dec 27

BNP Standing Committee Member Salauddin Ahmed has said the party's acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, will become a voter on December 27.

He made the statement on Monday, November 22, following a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) at the Election Building in Agargaon, Dhaka.

He said Tarique Rahman will return to the country this Thursday, November 25, and will subsequently initiate all necessary procedures to obtain his voter card on Saturday, November 27.

Earlier in the day, a BNP delegation led by Salauddin Ahmed met with Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin at his office in the Election Building around 3:00 pm.

Election Commissioner Rahmatul Masud and the Senior Secretary of the Election Commission were present at the meeting. The other two members of the BNP delegation were BNP Chairperson's Advisory Council Member Ismail Jabullah and former Acting Secretary of the Election Commission Dr. Mohammad Zakaria.

Notably, after a long absence, BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman is scheduled to return home on November 25. He has announced his intention to participate in the upcoming national parliamentary election. However, he has not yet enrolled his name in the voter list. Inclusion in the voter list after the announcement of the election schedule requires approval from the Election Commission.
