Tarique Rahman to fly to Sylhet tonight
BNP’s election campaign is set to begin with a visit to Sylhet by party chairman Tarique Rahman. The information was confirmed on Wednesday morning, January 21, by BNP political adviser and central election coordination committee spokesperson Mahadi Amin.
Speaking at a press conference at BNP’s election office in Gulshan, Dhaka, Mahadi Amin said that according to the announced schedule, Tarique Rahman will arrive in Sylhet by air at 8.15 pm tonight. Late at night, he will visit the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal Rahmatullah Alaihi. On Thursday morning, he will attend a BNP election rally at the Sylhet Alia Madrasa ground.
He further said that on Thursday afternoon, Tarique Rahman will join a rally at Sherpur Ainpur playground in Moulvibazar Sadar upazila. On the way, he will also attend multiple election rallies in Shayestaganj in Habiganj, Sarail in Brahmanbaria, Bhairab in Kishoreganj, Narsingdi municipal park area, and later in Araihazar Rupganj Gausia area of Narayanganj. After completing the tour, he will return to his Gulshan residence late at night.
Mahadi Amin said that as part of recognising the contributions of dedicated leaders and activists of BNP and its allied organisations during the 16-year anti-fascist movement and mass uprising, committed leaders will gradually accompany Tarique Rahman on each tour. Accompanying him on the Sylhet visit will be Abdul Qadir Bhuiyan Jewel, Mamun Hasan, Abdul Moneim Munna, Kazi Rawnakul Islam Shraban, Yasin Ferdous Murad, Rakibul Islam Rakib, along with several young leaders.
He also said that a BNP election theme song will be unveiled at the very start of the campaign. The theme song will be launched at 12.01 am on Wednesday night at a hotel in Dhaka by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and member secretary of the central election coordination committee Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
