BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that Bangladesh will advance on a democratic path under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, describing his return as a source of renewed hope for the nation.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists on Friday (December 26) at the graveyard of BNP founder and martyred President Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.

Mirza Fakhrul said that through Tarique Rahman’s leadership, the people of Bangladesh would regain their lost democratic rights. He described Tarique Rahman as a young and promising leader who, since 2006, has been viewed by the people and international media as the country’s future prime minister.

Referring to his return, the BNP leader said it was a significant and rare moment in the country’s political history, marked by spontaneous public participation.

He also noted that on Friday, Tarique Rahman would pay homage by placing wreaths at the mausoleum of Ziaur Rahman.

Meanwhile, the grave premises were crowded with BNP leaders and activists from the morning. They believe that Tarique Rahman’s return has dispelled political uncertainty, including election-related complexities, and signaled the beginning of a positive change in Bangladesh’s political landscape.
