Tarique Rahman to meet chief adviser this afternoon
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will meet the chief adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, on Thursday (January 15).
Sources from the chief adviser's office confirmed this information around 11:45 pm today.
According to sources, the meeting will be held this afternoon at the chief adviser's residence at the state guest house Jamuna.
Earlier on Wednesday, Tarique Rahman held a meeting of the 12-party alliance and the like-minded alliance at the BNP chairman's political office in Gulshan in the capital on Wednesday (January 14) afternoon.
On June 13 last year, a meeting was held between Dr. Yunus and Tarique Rahman at the Dorchester Hotel in London. Some important decisions were made in that meeting, including holding the national elections in the first half of February. After the meeting, representatives from both sides issued a joint statement.
Later on December 25, when BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman returned to the country, he had a phone conversation with the chief adviser. In that phone conversation, Tarique Rahman thanked the chief adviser for ensuring overall security. After the passing of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman met the chief adviser during the funeral held at the South Plaza of the Parliament and Manik Mia Avenue on December 31. However, today's meeting after returning to the country is going to be a formal meeting between the chief adviser and BNP chief Tarique Rahman.
