BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman touched the soil of his homeland barefoot upon exiting the lounge at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday (December 25), marking his return after over 17 years in exile. The flight carrying him landed at 11:40am. After disembarking, Tarique Rahman first exchanged handshakes with senior party leaders. Later at the airport lounge, his mother-in-law welcomed him with a rose garland. His wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and daughter, barrister Zaima Rahman, were present during the reception.

হযরত শাহজালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দরে নেমে লাউঞ্জ থেকে বের হয়ে খালিপায়ে দেশের মাটি স্পর্শ করলেন&nbsp; বিএনপির ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান তারেক রহমান। দীর্ঘ ১৭ বছর নির্বাসনের পর স্বদেশে ফিরে দেশের মাটি ছুঁয়ে দেখলেন তিনি। বৃহস্পতিবার (২৫ ডিসেম্বর) দুপুর প্রায় ১২টা নাগাদ তাকে বিমানবন্দরে বরণ করা হয়। এর আগে ১১টা ৪০ মিনিটে তাকে বহনকারী বিমানটি ঢাকায় অবতরণ করে। বিমানবন্দরে নেমে প্রথমে দলের সিনিয়র নেতৃবৃন্দের সঙ্গে করমর্দন করেন তারেক রহমান। এরপর লাউঞ্জে যাওয়ার পর ফুলের মালা দিয়ে তাকে বরণ করে নেন তার শাশুড়ি। এসময় তারেক রহমানের স্ত্রী জুবাইদা রহমান ও তার মেয়ে জাইমা রহমান সঙ্গে ছিলেন।
