Tarique Rahman’s daughter Zaima Rahman campaigns for BNP in Dhaka-17
Barrister Zaima Rahman, daughter of BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman, on Saturday joined door-to-door and street-level campaigning in Dhaka-17 in support of her father’s candidacy in the upcoming parliamentary election.
The campaign began around noon from the Gulshan Police Plaza area, where Zaima Rahman sought votes for the BNP’s electoral symbol, the Dhaner Shish, while interacting with residents across several streets in Gulshan.
She distributed campaign leaflets among pedestrians, rickshaw and CNG drivers, shopkeepers, street vendors and shoppers at nearby malls. Zaima Rahman also visited offices and banks in the area, including a private bank, where she spoke with voters and appealed for their support.
Introducing herself to voters, she said, “I am Zaima Rahman, daughter of Tarique Rahman. My father is contesting from Dhaka-17 with the Dhaner Shish symbol. I seek your votes for him.”
As part of an environment-friendly initiative, she distributed seeds instead of conventional campaign materials, encouraging voters to plant them in soil or pots to reduce campaign waste and promote greenery.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s caregiver, Fatema Khatun, was also seen accompanying the campaign. Although security personnel were present, Zaima Rahman directly engaged with voters throughout the outreach.
The campaign continued from Gulshan Police Plaza to Gulshan-1 Circle, drawing attention from onlookers, many of whom approached her for photographs, which she accepted with ease.
Tarique Rahman is contesting the Dhaka-17 seat as the BNP candidate in the forthcoming national parliamentary election.
