PM Tarique Rahman’s India visit will take place at right time: Trivedi

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s proposed visit to India will take place at the appropriate time, with Bangladesh and India engaged in positive discussions to finalise the schedule, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi said on Tuesday (September 29).

“There is no hurry. The visit will take place at the right time,” Trivedi told reporters after a courtesy meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Indian envoy said both Bangladesh and India were taking a positive approach to the proposed visit and that discussions on the schedule were progressing positively.

“We are positive about the visit, and everything is moving forward positively,” he said, expressing optimism about the trip.

Trivedi did not endorse reports in Indian media suggesting that Tarique Rahman could visit India in November. His remarks indicated that no specific date or schedule should be treated as confirmed until it is finalised through discussions between the two sides.

The proposed visit has been discussed by the two countries in recent months. Trivedi has previously said that the decision on the timing rests with the Bangladesh prime minister and that India remains ready to welcome him.
