Tarique Rahman’s speech at UN reflection of global aspirations: Rizvi

BNP’s acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has commented that the statement given by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the 81st general session of the United Nations is a reflection of the aspirations of the democracy-loving and peace-loving people of the world.

He made this comment at the pre-protest procession rally organised by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal and Swechchhasebak Dal in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan of the capital on Friday afternoon.

Rizvi said in the speech given at the United Nations the Prime Minister has presented diplomacy, education and peace as tools of change instead of weapons of mass destruction. At the same time he has reaffirmed Bangladesh’s firm support for the rights of the Palestinians and the right to establish an independent state.

He further said the Prime Minister has also called upon the world leaders for the dignified repatriation of the Rohingyas who have taken shelter in Bangladesh to their own country. The emergence of these issues in his speech is a reflection of the aspirations of the peace-loving and democracy-loving people of the world.

At the rally Rizvi called upon the opposition political parties not to give any kind of indulgence to the defeated forces of the Chabbish movement. He said the defeated forces of the Chabbish mass movement are trying to create an unstable situation in the country in various ways. Incidents of violence and sabotage are being caused as part of this.

This BNP leader alleged that a conspiracy is under way with the aim of politically rehabilitating the ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and bringing back the previous political system. He also commented that no conspiracy to nullify the political change that has come through the Chabbish mass movement will be allowed to succeed.

Under the chairmanship of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal president and Member of Parliament SM Jilani further speeches were given at the rally by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal president Rakibul Islam Rakib and the party’s vice-president Ziaur Rahman Zia.

Leaders and activists of various levels of Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal and Swechchhasebak Dal took part in the rally. Later a procession was brought out from the Nayapaltan area in protest against the conspiracy to create instability.
