Tarique Rahman’s tribute to Kazi Nazrul Islam, Hadi show political insight: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the prayers offered by the party Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to the graves of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and Inqilab Mancha leader Sharif Osman Hadi is a reflection of his political acumen.

Speaking to reporters in the capital's Shahbagh on Saturday (December 27), Fakhrul said Tarique’s return to the country amid a complex political landscape has “simplified many equations” and highlighted a political philosophy aligned with Bangladeshi nationalism.

“We believe this vision and politics are best suited for the liberation and welfare of the people of Bangladesh,” he added.

Commenting on Tarique Rahman’s current popularity, Fakhrul said, “We are confident that his popularity and new plans for Bangladesh will open a new horizon for the country.”

Fakhrul also expressed optimism about the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, predicting Tarique would achieve significant success.

Regarding earlier concerns over a potential election delay following the attack on Osman Hadi, Fakhrul noted that the public’s spontaneous participation after Tarique’s return suggests those fears have largely subsided. “But conspiracies are conspiracies; it’s hard to predict anything in advance,” he said.
