Tarique to attend public mourning rally in memory of Khaleda Zia
A public mourning rally will be held in memory of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia on Friday (January 16). The event will begin at 2:30 pm at the South Plaza of the National Parliament.
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will be present at the mourning rally. However, he will not speak.
Former Chief Justice Syed J.R. Modasshir Hossain will preside over the rally.
Politicians, prominent citizens and representatives of the interim government will participate in the event organized under the banner of the Nagorik Committee.
Professor Dr. Mahbub Ullah has already distributed invitations of the event.
Renowned journalists, professors and former government officials of the country will pay tribute to Khaleda Zia at the event. Senior politicians will be present but will not speak.
Khaleda Zia died while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital on December 30 last year. BNP observed seven days of mourning on her death. A three-day mourning was declared by the state, one of which was a general holiday.
