A court has ordered the seizure of the income tax records of former Detective Branch chief Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid. On Wednesday, November&nbsp;26, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faez issued the order following a petition from the ACC. Court bench assistant Md Riaz Hossain confirmed the information. On the same day, ACC Deputy Director Muhammad Zainal Abedin filed the petition seeking the seizure of his tax files. The petition stated that Harun-or-Rashid abused his official powers to accumulate assets worth Tk 17 crore 51 lakh 17 thousand 806 beyond known income and kept them under his possession, which constitutes an offence under ACC laws. For proper investigation, seizing and reviewing his tax files is essential.

সাবেক গোয়েন্দা শাখা (ডিবি) প্রধান মোহাম্মদ হারুন-অর-রশিদের আয়কর নথি জব্দের নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন আদালত। বুধবার (২৬ নভেম্বর) ঢাকা মহানগর সিনিয়র স্পেশাল জজ মো. সাব্বির ফয়েজ দুদকের আবেদনের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে এই আদেশ দেন। এ তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছেন আদালতের বেঞ্চ সহকারী মো. রিয়াজ হোসেন। একই দিন দুদকের উপপরিচালক মোহাম্মদ জয়নাল আবেদীন তাঁর কর নথি জব্দের আবেদন করেন। আবেদনে বলা হয়, হারুন-অর-রশিদ তাঁর ক্ষমতার অপব্যবহার করে ১৭ কোটি ৫১ লাখ ১৭ হাজার ৮০৬ টাকা মূল্যের জ্ঞাত–আয়ের বাইরে সম্পদ অর্জন করেছেন এবং তা নিজের দখলে রেখেছেন, যা দুদক আইনের আওতায় অপরাধ। সঠিকভাবে তদন্তের জন্য তাঁর কর ফাইল জব্দ ও পর্যালোচনা করা জরুরি।
