TCB to sell additional 9,000 metric tonnes of products during Ramadan
Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin said that an additional 9,000 metric tonnes of products will be sold at the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) truck sales during Ramadan.
He said this while inaugurating the formal activities of TCB's truck sales in Khulna on Tuesday (February 11).
The adviser said that on the occasion of Ramadan, TCB will sell an additional 9,000 metric tonnes of products to 1.2 million families through truck sales outside the family card across the country. This will keep the market situation tolerable.
Earlier, on Monday (February 10), Kamal Hossain, Senior Information Officer of the Commerce Ministry, had said that the government marketing agency Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has started selling five products including chickpeas and dates in Dhaka and Chattogram ahead of Ramadan.
He said that TCB's truck sales have started from 10 am on Monday. The commerce adviser will inaugurate the activities in Khulna on Wednesday.
Shahnaz Sultana, owner of TCB dealer SM Enterprise in Hathazari, Chattogram, said, "As per the previous announcement, the truck sale has started from 10 am on Monday. Our vehicles have already left with the products.
A consumer can buy a maximum of 2 liters of edible oil, 2 kg of lentils, 1 kg of sugar, 2 kg of chickpeas and 500 grams of dates from TCB trucks.
Of this, the price of edible oil has been fixed at 100 taka; TCB is selling lentils at 60 taka, sugar at 70 taka, chickpeas at 60 taka and half a kg of dates at 155 taka.
