Teachers’ demands will be addressed soon: Education Secretary

Education Secretary Rehana Parvin has said that all pending issues regarding teachers, including house rent and other allowances, will be resolved soon once the national pay scale is implemented.

She made the remarks during a press briefing at the Ministry of Education on October 16 (Thursday).

“We have already sent a letter to the Ministry of Finance regarding the teachers’ demands, and we are working on this continuously,” said Rehana Parvin. “Although the Finance Adviser and Secretary are currently abroad, we are working tirelessly to reach a solution.”

She added that a meeting has been convened to discuss the matter further. “Once discussions begin, a solution will emerge. The percentage-based allocation we are moving towards is a step forward,” she said.

The Education Secretary noted that once the new national pay scale is introduced, it will have a positive impact. “We seek everyone’s cooperation in this process,” she added, mentioning that it might take some time before the impact becomes visible.
