Tejgaon College students have once again blocked roads in the Farmgate area, demanding speedy justice for the murder of their classmate Sakibul Hasan Rana and the arrest of his killers. The protest, which began around noon on Wednesday (14 January), completely halted traffic on Farmgate and Khamarbari roads, causing severe congestion in the area.

The students stated that a month has passed since the murder, yet no judicial progress has been observed. They warned that unless the killers are swiftly arrested and given exemplary punishment, they will continue their protests. During the demonstration, they raised slogans such as “My brother is in the grave, why is the killer free?” and “My brother’s blood cannot go in vain.”

Earlier, on 4 January, the students had similarly blocked the Farmgate intersection demanding justice. At that time, a six-member delegation of the college, through police mediation, met with the Home and Law Advisers at the Secretariat.

It may be noted that on the night of 6 December, Sakibul Rana was severely injured in a clash between two student groups over drug consumption at the Tejgaon College dormitory. He succumbed to his injuries on 10 December after four days of treatment.

Despite a strong police presence in the Farmgate area, the students remain firm in their demand for justice.
