Testimony deferred in Abu Sayeed murder case
Deposition of witnesses in the murder case filed over the death of Begum Rokeya University Abu Sayed has been deferred until November 10.
International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 fixed the new date responding to the pleas of the prosecution as the witnesses were not present during the 10th hearing day on Tuesday. The witnesses were set to deliver their deposition against 30 accused including former BRUR VC Hasibur Rashid.
In this regard, Constable Sujan's lawyer Azizur Rahman Dulu said: "The failure of the witness to appear in the case means 'reluctance of the prosecution'. But I think this is a failure of the prosecution."
Earlier, the testimony was scheduled for October 13. However, the prosecution could not produce the witness that day either.
Prosecutor Mainul Karim said: "Our witness could not come due to physical illness. The rest of the prosecutors are busy with other cases in Tribunal-1. Therefore, we want to present the witness in this case after October 20."
