Testimony ends in Sheikh Hasina’s plot corruption case
Testimony has concluded in the case filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 12 others over allegations of corruption in plot allocation. On Monday, at the court of Dhaka Special Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, after the completion of testimony, the court fixed November 17 for the accused to present their statements in self-defence. The information was confirmed to Views Bangladesh by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) prosecutor Khan Md Mainul Hasan Lipon.
On the same day, lawyer Shahinur Rahman, representing Mohammad Khurshid Alam, former member (Estate and Land) of Rajuk and one of the accused in the case, cross-examined ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya.
Meanwhile, in two separate cases against Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and daughter Saima Wazed Putul, the investigation officers were also cross-examined on Monday. The cross-examinations in these cases will continue on November 17. On that day, ACC Deputy Directors Salauddin and S M Rashedul Hasan will be cross-examined in Joy and Putul’s cases respectively.
On July 31, charges were framed against the accused in these cases, initiating the trial. Along with Sheikh Hasina, Joy, and Putul, the accused include Sheikh Hasina’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana, her daughter and British MP Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, her son Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and another daughter Azmina Siddiq.
