Testimony on Abu Sayed murder case set to begin Thursday

The International Crimes Tribunal-2 has scheduled Thursday (August 28) for the start of testimony over the murder of Abu Sayed, a Begum Rokeya University student killed during the July mass movement.
A three-member tribunal, led by Chairman Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, set the date on Wednesday (August 27), following the opening statement delivered by Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam.
The other members are Justices Md. Manjurul Bashid and Md. Nur Mohammad Shahriar Kabir.
Maqbul Hossain, father of the slain student, will testify first.
Of the 30 accused, 24—including former university vice-chancellor Hasibur Rashid—remain absconding.
Six are in custody include former proctor Shoriful Islam, former assistant registrar Rafiul Hasan Rasel, ex-employee Md. Anwar Parvez, former ASI Amir Hossain, former constable Sujan Chandra Roy, and expelled Chhatra League leader Imran Chowdhury Akash.
Sayed, a 25-year-old English department student, was shot dead on July 16 last year at the Park intersection in front of Begum Rokeya University during protests demanding quota reform in government jobs.
