The interim government has held its final advisory council meeting. The meeting included a detailed review of the 13th National Parliamentary Election held last Thursday. The advisory council believes this will go down in history as a 'memorable election'.

The meeting was held on Sunday at the Chief Adviser's office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, chaired by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus. After the meeting, Press Secretary to the outgoing interim government's Chief Adviser Shafiqul Alam briefed journalists at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on the discussion points.

The Press Secretary said, "The cabinet observed what the Chief Adviser initially said that this would be one of the best elections in history and that has come to pass. It will remain a memorable election." He also presented various election-related information to journalists.

BNP is set to form the government by securing over two-thirds of the seats in the 13th National Parliamentary Election. The party has already announced that with victory in a majority of seats, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will become the next prime minister of the country. The oath-taking for elected members of parliament and the new cabinet will be held on Tuesday.

According to announced results, BNP has won 209 out of 297 seats. BNP candidates are also leading in the two constituencies where results remain suspended. Additionally, their allies have secured three seats, meaning BNP and its partners have won a total of 212 seats.

On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami has secured 68 seats. Other allies of the Jamaat-led 11-party electoral alliance have secured nine seats. Thus, Jamaat-e-Islami and its partners have won a total of 77 seats. The Election Commission has already published the gazette for the elected members of parliament.
