This govt turns to poll-time govt once the schedule is announced: Minister
Law Minister Anisul Huq has said the present government
will turn to an election-time government once the Election Commission announces
the schedule.
The minister said this on Thursday responding to the
queries of journalists at his Secretariat office.
Mentioning that BNP-Jammat allies is out to foil the
elections every time, he said: "There is no scope of restoring caretaker
government provision. This provision has been cancelled as per the directive of
the higher court. No discussion will be held on it."
"The Election Commission is likely to announce
the election schedule in the middle of November. This government will be the
poll-time government as soon the the schedule would be announced. There is no
need to form another government to hold the elections," he added.
Regarding the issue of empowering Ansar to arrest people, he said: "The home minister had made it clear that Ansar will not be allowed to make any arrests. We have examined all the topics in this regard and this law will be passed considering police department's observation."
"The act clearly mentioned that Ansar members can
capture an offender and hand him over to police if any criminal activities
occure in their presence," the minister added.
