Those called to join Tarique Rahman’s cabinet
Several prominent political leaders and MPs have been invited to join the new government’s cabinet.
According to reliable sources, the appointees include A N M Ehshanul Haque Milon, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee, Abdul Awal Mintu, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain (Kaikobad), Nurul Haque Nur, Zonayed Saki, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Moktadir Chowdhury, and Md Shariful Alam.
The new cabinet will take the oath this afternoon at 4pm at the South Plaza of the National Parliament, administered by President Mohammad Sahabuddin.
The President will first swear in the Prime Minister, followed by ministers, state ministers, and deputy ministers.
In the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Tarique Rahman, won 209 of the 299 gazetted seats, securing an absolute majority. Jamaat-e-Islami won 68 seats to become the main opposition, while other parties and independents took the remaining seats.
