The government has intensified its campaign against freedom fighters' gazettes, red liberation letters and non-freedom fighters included in the Indian list. So far, a total of 6,476 names have been excluded from the list, said Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan.

He gave this information in response to a question from Rangpur-4 MP Akhtar Hossain in the National Parliament on Wednesday (April 15).

The minister said that since the formation of the National Freedom Fighters Council (JAMUKA), continuous verification and selection has been carried out. After investigation based on the allegations, action is being taken against the non-freedom fighters.

He also said that many people had included their names in the Indian list by providing false information. After verification, they are being excluded from the gazette, red liberation letters and Indian list.

842 complaints have been received since August 2024. Of these, final recommendations for cancellation of the list have been made against 481 people after investigation.

The minister said that the JAMUKA subcommittee is verifying the issues through investigation and hearing. If they are proven to be non-freedom fighters, their certificates and all kinds of benefits are being cancelled. Such verification activities will continue in the future as well.
