Three children die with measles symptoms in 24 hours, 1,218 infected
Three children have died with measles symptoms in the country over the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,218 children were infected with measles or its symptoms.
The Directorate General of Health Services published the regular measles report on Friday, August 7.
The DGHS said three children died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, but no deaths were reported from confirmed measles cases during this period.
According to the report, the total number of deaths from measles and measles symptoms in the country this year has risen to 863. Of these, 96 have died from confirmed measles and 767 from measles symptoms.
In the last 24 hours, two deaths with measles symptoms were reported in Sylhet Division and one in Mymensingh Division.
Meanwhile, 201 new confirmed measles cases were detected in the same period. The total number of confirmed measles cases in the country so far this year stands at 16,941.
Additionally, 1,017 new suspected measles cases were reported in the last 24 hours. The total number of suspected measles infections this year has now reached 1,34,655.
