Three law officers of Attorney General's office resign

Three law officers of the Attorney General's office have resigned citing personal reasons. They submitted their resignation letters to the administrative officer of the office on Monday, September 7.

The resigning officers are Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Mamun Chowdhury and Assistant Attorney Generals (AAG) Rohani Siddika and Projjal Chakma. No separate reasons were provided for their resignations, with personal reasons mentioned in the resignation letters.

Earlier, Assistant Attorney General Md Noorul Karim had resigned recently after allegations of involvement with Awami League politics surfaced.

Prior to that, in June, seven Deputy Attorney Generals and 11 Assistant Attorney Generals, aligned with Jamaat-e-Islami, had jointly resigned in protest against several government decisions. At that time, Deputy Attorney General Tarikul Islam, one of the resigning officers, had confirmed the matter to the media.

Tarikul Islam had said they resigned collectively in protest against the government's failure to implement the July Charter and the decision to repeal the Supreme Court Secretariat Appointment Ordinance and the Supreme Court Judges Appointment Ordinance. The recent resignations have brought to focus the changing dynamics among law officers at the Attorney General's office.
