Three ministers to act in PM's absence

The government has published a new list of alternative ministers to handle parliamentary affairs in the absence of the concerned minister or state minister, ensuring smooth functioning of parliamentary activities across various ministries and departments in the 13th Parliament.

The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Monday, August 24, signed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani, which was later published as an extra edition of the Bangladesh Gazette.

The notification stated that the designated ministers will handle parliamentary affairs for their respective ministries until further orders. In the absence of the minister or state minister, the designated alternative minister or state minister will assume responsibility.

Three ministers have been assigned to act as alternatives in the absence of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for parliamentary affairs at the Prime Minister's Office. They are: Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare Minister Abu Jafar Md Zahid Hossain, and Industries, Textiles and Jute and Commerce Minister Khandkar Abdul Muktadir.

The other alternative assignments are:

Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Ministry: State Minister Mir Shah Alam will act in the absence of Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan.

Food Ministry: Fisheries and Livestock and Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid will act in the absence of Minister Afroza Khanam.

Information and Broadcasting Ministry: State Minister Yaser Khan Chowdhury will act in the absence of Minister Andalib Rahman.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry: State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin will act in the absence of Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat.

Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry: State Minister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin will also act in the absence of Minister Saching Pru.

The notification said the order will take immediate effect, while other matters of previous notifications will remain unchanged.
