Three more children die with measles-like-symptoms, death toll rises to 745

The country recorded three more child deaths with measles symptoms over the past 24 hours, while 902 new infections were reported, according to the latest update from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The health bulletin released on Wednesday (July 8) said 652 children have died with measles symptoms since March 15, while laboratory tests have confirmed 93 measles-related deaths, taking the overall death toll to 745.

During the same period, 106 new laboratory-confirmed cases were detected, raising the total number of confirmed infections to 13,070 since March 15.

Health authorities also reported 796 new suspected cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative number of symptomatic patients to 108,180.

According to the DGHS, 91,270 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals since March 15. Of them, 87,628 have recovered and been discharged.

The latest figures underscore the continuing public health challenge as authorities intensify surveillance, treatment and response measures to contain the outbreak.
