Three more die with measles symptoms in 24 hours
Three more children died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours until 8am today, bringing the country’s combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 918 since March 15.
The Directorate General of Health Services, in its latest measles situation report released on Tuesday afternoon (August 18), said that no child died from confirmed measles during the 24-hour period.
According to the report, a total of 1,061 children were reported to have either contracted confirmed meyasles or developed measles-like symptoms during the period.
Of them, 59 were newly confirmed with measles, while 1,002 others developed symptoms of the disease.
Since March 15, a total of 819 children have died with measles-like symptoms, while 99 others have died after being confirmed to have contracted the disease.
During the past 24 hours, 903 children were admitted to hospitals, while 967 were discharged, the report said.
Since March 15, the country has recorded 144,780 suspected measles cases and 17,989 confirmed cases.
A total of 126,289 patients have been admitted to hospitals during the period, of whom 121,880 have been discharged after treatment.
