Three mothers to monitor school food quality: Bobby Hajjaj
The government has taken an initiative to provide nutritious food to students in government primary schools. To ensure the quality of this food, at least three mothers will be included in the monitoring committee of each school, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has said.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the 'Neel Kamal Award' ceremony organised by the Bangladesh Girl Guides Association at the Guide Auditorium on Bailey Road in the capital.
"The government is making arrangements to provide nutritious food in every school," the state minister said.
At the event, 57 'Holde Pakhi' (Yellow Birds), selected through competitions from six regions across the country, were awarded medals, crests and certificates in recognition of their achievements.
Congratulating the students, Bobby Hajjaj said, "I am not among our girls or Holde Pakhi today. I am among the future leaders of Bangladesh."
Recalling the century-long history and contributions of Girl Guides, he said the new government is working to ensure that students from Bangladesh reach leadership positions not only in the country but also globally.
He said changes are being made to the curriculum so that students learn civic responsibility, ethics and leadership from an early age. "They will not even need to come to Girl Guides; they will learn from the curriculum itself." He also informed that cleanliness and civic responsibility will be added to the curriculum.
The event was presided over by Kazi Zebunnesa Begum, retired Grade-1 officer of the Ministry of Public Administration and National Commissioner of Bangladesh Girl Guides Association. Deputy National Commissioner (Programme) Professor Yasmin Ahmed delivered the welcome speech. The event concluded with a cultural programme and circle songs.
