Thunderstorms, gales expected by noon
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has said that the capital Dhaka and its surrounding areas may experience thunderstorms and gales by noon today (March 25). In addition, due to the influence of a low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal, rain and thunderstorms may occur in 6 divisions of the country.
The forecast issued by the agency said that the sky over Dhaka may remain temporarily cloudy to overcast in the next six hours from 7am on Wednesday morning (March 25). There is a possibility of thundershowers during this time.
According to the forecast, winds may blow from the south or southwest at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour, which may temporarily increase to 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in the form of gusty or squally winds.
The overall weather picture shows that the extension of the low pressure area is located in West Bengal and its surroundings. In addition, the normal low pressure area of the season is active in the southern Bay of Bengal area.
Due to this, there is a possibility of rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds in some places of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions by 6pm today.
However, the sky may remain partly cloudy and the weather may remain mainly dry in other parts of the country, the Meteorological Department said.
