Thunderstorms, gusty winds likely in Dhaka today
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted of potential rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Dhaka and its surrounding areas today.
It also warns that temporary gusty winds may reach speeds of 40–50 km/h in some places.
In a weather bulletin issued for Dhaka and nearby areas from 7:00am Sunday (March 15) for the next six hours, the Storm Warning Centre of BMD said the sky may remain partly cloudy to temporarily overcast, with chances of rain or thundershowers.
During this period, winds may blow from the west or northwest at speeds of 10–15 km/h. However, temporary gusty or squally winds may occur in isolated areas, reaching 40–50 km/h.
The weather office said daytime temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged. At 6:00am today, the temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 25.6°C, while relative humidity stood at 79 per cent.
On Saturday, the maximum temperature in Dhaka was 32.2°C, while today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 25.5°C. No rainfall was recorded in the city over the past 24 hours.
According to the forecast, sunset in Dhaka today will be at 6:07pm, while sunrise tomorrow is expected at 6:07am.
