Thunderstorms up to 60kmph likely in 8 regions by noon
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Saturday (Juky 18) forecast temporary gusty or squally winds of up to 60 kilometres per hour in eight regions of the country by noon, accompanied by rain or thundershowers.
In an inland river ports forecast valid from 5:00am to 1:00pm, the BMD said Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet could experience south or south-easterly winds with speeds of 45-60km/h.
The weather office also forecast rain or thundershowers over the affected areas.
It advised river ports in the eight regions to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No 1.
The forecast was issued by meteorologist Md Omar Faruk on behalf of the deputy director of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
