A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight bound for Abu Dhabi was forced to return to Dhaka just one hour after takeoff due to a malfunction in the aircraft’s toilet flush systems.

Flight BG 327 departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:23 AM on Thursday night. However, shortly after reaching cruising altitude, the crew discovered that the flush systems in three of the aircraft’s toilets had stopped working. With passengers facing growing discomfort, the pilot made the decision to turn the aircraft around.

The flight landed safely back in Dhaka at 1:31 AM.

Following the unscheduled return, passengers were transferred to a different aircraft and departed for Abu Dhabi at 3:38 AM.

According to Biman sources, the aircraft used for the replacement flight was initially scheduled for flight BG 388 to Bangkok at 11:30 AM. As a result, the Bangkok-bound flight was delayed and is now expected to depart at 5:30 PM on Friday.

This is the latest in a string of recent incidents involving Biman flights. On August 6, a Bangkok-bound flight returned to Dhaka an hour after takeoff due to abnormal engine vibrations. Passengers on that flight were also sent on an alternative aircraft. Similarly, on July 28, a Boeing 777-ER en route to Dammam was forced to return to Dhaka after facing technical issues mid-air.

Biman authorities say they are investigating the incidents and taking steps to ensure passenger safety and service reliability.
