Take swift action to address migrant workers’ crisis
On the one hand, political and economic insecurity in the country is driving many people abroad in search of a more secure life. On the other hand, Bangladeshis are being sent back from foreign countries for lacking valid documents. According to information published in the media last Thursday (25 September), 52 Bangladeshis are being deported from Italy, Austria, Greece and Cyprus on charges of living without proper documents. In the first phase, 32 of them, all men, were scheduled to return on a chartered flight to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday. The return date of the remaining 20 is not yet known.

Form high-level investigative committee to probe Muradnagar incidents
Since the current interim government came to power, Muradnagar in Cumilla has repeatedly been in the spotlight for the perpetration of brutal crimes. Particularly shocking was the killings of a mother, brother, and sister from the same family by hacking and crushing with stones in broad daylight, and the stripping and torture of a local female schoolteacher inside an educational institution, which caused a nationwide uproar. In addition, a private television channel’s investigative report this week has brought to light several other horrifying terrorist incidents.
Where is interim government headed!
Where is present-day Bangladesh headed, and on which path is the interim government taking the country? Such questions are deeply troubling everyone. Over the past 10 months, a series of decisions made by the government that harm the interests of the country have pushed us into fear and anxiety. It is hard to believe that the government's intentions are noble. Instead of moving away from a one-party regime, we have ended up with another undemocratic, unconstitutional government that curtails freedom of expression. Public trust in the government is already declining due to numerous activities beyond its jurisdiction.
Ensure people's safety
After a video went viral on social media showing robbers snatching a young man's bag in broad daylight while holding knives, widespread fear has gripped the general public. According to media reports published on Tuesday (May 27), the incident took place on the afternoon of May 18. The location was Greenway Lane in Moghbazar, Dhaka. The victim of the robbery is a young man named Abdullah, who is from Cumilla. Following the incident, on Sunday night, Abdullah filed a case with Hatirjheel police station against three unidentified individuals. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatirjheel police station told the media that efforts are underway to bring the three robbers involved in the case to justice.
Where will we hide this shame?
The brave freedom fighters are the heroes of this country, and the Liberation War remains the most glorious chapter of our history. However, it is deeply saddening and shameful that, in recent times, certain individuals have been dishonoring both the Liberation War and its heroes in various ways.
