From Gaza to Iran: We hear cries of people

Just two weeks ago, the eyes of the entire world were on Gaza. All around there was rubble, the cries of bloodied children, the wails of refugees. People, having lost their homes, were fleeing toward unknown destinations. Children stared with helpless eyes due to lack of food. Their gaze repeatedly questioned our conscience. Bombs were even dropped on those shelters where the helpless sought their last refuge for safety.

India-Pakistan War: Nuclear tensions and role of global powers

The biggest concern about the war that has been going on between Pakistan and India since May 7 is that there is no strong mediation or de-escalation initiative from the international level so far. China, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Iran have offered to mediate. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has already visited the two countries. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is also in telephone contact with both countries. Still, the initiative to calm the situation through mediation between the two nuclear-armed countries does not seem to be enough.

Europe, US: A fractured relationship

The relationship between Europe and the United States traces its origins back to the battlefields of World War II. From those war-torn grounds emerged the foundations of geopolitical blocs. In the post-war world, the growing influence of the socialist bloc led by the Soviet Union heightened anxiety and sparked escalating tensions. A multi-dimensional competition took shape between the two blocs, each accusing the other of trying to destroy its internal unity. Just as American troops couldn’t establish a presence in Eastern European countries, Soviet tanks couldn’t roll into the Prussian fields due to the U.S.'s opposition. This attempt to separate the U.S. from Europe was once termed “decoupling.” What decades of Cold War hostility failed to accomplish, former U.S. President Donald Trump has moved to achieve within mere weeks.

Is the cry of Gaza people reaching the ears of world leaders?

It was late night in Gaza. During the holy month of Ramadan, many people in Gaza were having their Sehri when suddenly the sound of bomber planes echoed. Explosions were heard one after another. They had to drop their food and flee. In front of their eyes, their homes were destroyed. A ceasefire was in effect. No one could have imagined such a brutal attack would come so suddenly. Many loved ones died before their eyes. Little children, having lost their parents, started running alone on the streets, crying. A little while later, the Fajr Adhan was heard. The voice of the muezzin was also filled with tears.

Shadow of darkness behind America's democracy in Trump era

Trump came to power in 2016 primarily by taking control of America’s information landscape. His journey in politics has been marked by controversy, with his actions always seeming to run parallel to the divisive nature of his rhetoric. From hate speech to crude attacks on opposing politicians, he has consistently used derogatory language. On January 6, 2021, thousands of Trump supporters stormed the senate office at Capitol Hill. Instead of regret, Trump later remarked during a campaign rally that he should not have left the House on that day, despite losing the 2020 presidential election. Now, this very Trump is back in the American throne. Ironically, it is the citizens of the nation that often claims to uphold the most democracy in the world who have brought him back to power, dressed as a king.
