During a press briefing at the EC headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka, Senior Secretary of the EC, Akhtar Ahmed, stated that the draft updated voter list published on August 10 included 12,61,70,900 voters. Since then, 1,37,642 new voters have been added, while 1,038 deceased voters have been removed. This results in a net increase of 1,36,604 voters. The constitutional body also announced that those who will turn 18 by October 31 will be eligible for inclusion in the voter list. Another list will be published on that day.

The EC Secretary also stated that while a detailed count of voters with disabilities is not yet available, the EC plans to analyze the data and release relevant statistics. Measures will also be taken to facilitate voting for visually impaired individuals.

Secretary Ahmed added that the EC is currently working on finalizing the Representation of the People Order (RPO) and the redrawing of parliamentary constituency boundaries. Further details will be shared with the media in due course.
