Trading hours in the country's capital market have been reduced to save electricity and fuel. Under the new decision, trading at the Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges will run for half an hour less from Sunday, April 5.

A circular issued by the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stated that under the new schedule, trading will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The 'post-closing' time has been set from 1:56 pm to 2:00 pm.

However, official activities will continue as before from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Under normal circumstances, capital market trading runs from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. The new decision reduces daily trading time by half an hour.

Due to the impact of the global fuel crisis and ongoing conflict in the Middle East, pressure has been created on fuel supply in Bangladesh as well. In this situation, the government has taken various measures to save electricity and fuel.

As part of this, a recent cabinet meeting changed government office hours to 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Shops and shopping malls have also been instructed to close by 6:00 pm.

Additionally, the Bangladesh Bank has reduced banking transaction hours to one hour less, with transactions now from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

In continuation, trading hours in the capital market have now been reduced, seen as part of the overall fuel-saving initiative.
