Training completed for 75 percent of law enforcement personnel: Press Secretary
Around 75 percent of members of law enforcement agencies, including police, Ansar and Coast Guard, have completed their training ahead of the upcoming election, said chief adviser’s press secretary Shafiqul Alam.
Speaking at a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy auditorium on Tuesday night, he said security preparations for the Election Commission were progressing at full pace. He expressed hope that training for the remaining personnel would be completed soon.
He said training on the use of CCTV and body-worn cameras was also underway and is expected to be completed by January 31.
The press secretary added that the home ministry is developing an app to enable centralised monitoring and rapid response in case of any violence during voting. Monitoring control rooms will operate at upazila, district and divisional levels, alongside a central control room in Dhaka.
Referring to postal ballot registration, he said there had been a strong response, with 1,533,682 people registered, including 761,140 voters inside the country and 772,542 abroad.
Senior assistant press secretary to the chief adviser Foyez Ahmed was also present at the briefing.
