Travel ban imposed on Naimur Rahman Durjoy, his wife
A Dhaka cvourt has imposed travel ban on ex-captain of Bangladesh cricket team and former lawmaker from Manikganj-1 constituency Naimur Rahman and his wife Farhana Rahman.
Senior Special Judge of Dhaka Assams Jaglul Hossain issued the ban on Thursday (October 3rd) in response to an appeal of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC Assistant Director (Prosecution General) Aminul Islam confirmed this information.
ACC Director Md Abul Hasnat filed the plea on behalf of the agency.
According to the appeal, the allegation against Naimur Rahman Durjoy of misappropriation of government money through various irregularities and corruption is currently under investigation. The investigation is vital to prevent money laundering in the interest of the state.
During the investigation, it has been found that Durjoy and his wife were trying to escape abroad. If they flee abroad, the enquiry is likely to be prolonged or disrupted. In such a situation, it is necessary to impose a travel ban.
After the hearing, the court imposed a travel ban and ordered copies of the order to be sent to the immigration authorities and the ACC head office.
