The court has placed a travel ban on Advocate Toufika Aftab, also known as Toufika Karim, who was responsible for managing former Law Minister Anisul Huq's law chamber.

The order was passed by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib on Thursday (February 6), in response to a petition submitted by Md Jahangir Alam, Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The petition states that an investigative team has been established to examine allegations of irregularities and corruption involving former Brahmanbaria-4 MP and former Law Minister Anisul Huq, Toufika Aftab, and others.

The investigation uncovered that Toufika Aftab, by exploiting Anisul Huq’s influence as a trusted ally, accumulated substantial illicit wealth through illegal lobbying and corrupt dealings within the Ministry of Law and various judicial courts, including appointments, transfers, and bail proceedings. She allegedly used her unlawful earnings to purchase a luxurious residence worth Tk 6.33 crore in the Bashundhara Residential Area. Additionally, she holds deposits totaling Tk 23 crore 31 lakh 74 thousand 737 in United Commercial Bank and Citizens Bank, along with an investment of Tk 5 crore in Citizens Bank.
