Two more Bangladeshis die during Hajj in Saudi Arabia

Two more Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Makkah and Madinah while performing the holy Hajj, bringing the total number of deaths among Bangladeshi pilgrims this season to 14.

The Hajj Office in Makkah confirmed the information on Friday, May 15.

The deceased have been identified as Nasrin Jahan of Gazipur Sadar and Nusrat Sharmin of Savar. According to the Hajj Office, 10 of the deceased are male and four are female.

The Hajj Office said 56,659 Bangladeshi pilgrims have so far arrived in Saudi Arabia. Among them, 4,444 have travelled under government management and 52,115 under private management. They arrived in Saudi Arabia on a total of 146 flights.

Meanwhile, 27,116 automated medical prescriptions have been issued from medical centres set up for pilgrim healthcare. Additionally, 16,430 services have been provided through the IT helpdesk.

Authorities said more than 78,500 Bangladeshis will perform Hajj this year, with 4,565 under government management and 73,935 under private management.

Subject to moon sighting, the holy Hajj is likely to be held on May 26. Return flights will begin on May 30, with the final flight departing for Dhaka on June 30.
