Two more children die from measles symptoms
Two more children have died from measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths from the disease and its complications to 805 since March 15 this year. During the same period, 1,014 more children were identified with measles infection or symptoms.
The updated measles situation report was released by the Directorate General of Health Services on Thursday.
According to the report, one child each from Sylhet and Rangpur divisions died in the last 24 hours. Of the 805 children who have died since March 15, 95 tested positive for measles infection. The remaining 710 died with symptoms of the disease.
In the last day, 166 new cases were confirmed through testing. Another 848 children showed symptoms of the disease. In total, symptoms have been identified in 121,200 children since March 15. Of them, 15,007 tested positive for measles.
Directorate General of Health Services data shows that 103,863 children have been admitted to hospitals across the country with measles and its symptoms during this period. Of them, 1,001,188 have recovered and been discharged after treatment.The Directorate General of Health Services has urged guardians to ensure children receive the measles vaccine on schedule and to seek immediate medical advice if fever, rash or other symptoms of measles appear.
