Two more deaths from measles symptoms in 24 hours, 1,236 infected

The Directorate General of Health Services has said two more people have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours. In the same period 1,236 new suspected and confirmed measles patients have been identified.

This information has been given in a press release sent from the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday (September 8). According to the information of the press release, 1,157 people have been identified with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. In the same period confirmed measles has been identified in 79 people through tests.

The Directorate General of Health Services said from March 15 to September 8 a total of 166,641 patients have been identified with measles symptoms in the country. Among them the number of confirmed measles patients is 19,835.

During this period 146,359 people have been admitted to hospital with measles symptoms. After treatment 140,850 people have been discharged from hospital after recovery.

Meanwhile two people have died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. As a result the number of deaths with measles symptoms from March 15 to September 8 has risen to 899. On the other hand no one has died of confirmed measles in the last 24 hours. However a total of 99 people have died after being infected with confirmed measles during the same period.

According to the information of the Directorate General of Health Services, the number of symptom-based patients and deaths is being kept separately from the count of confirmed measles patients. As a result the statistics of suspected and laboratory-confirmed patients are being published separately for monitoring the measles situation.
