Two more die from dengue in 24 hrs, 672 hospitalised
Two more deaths from dengue were reported in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of fatalities this year to 61. During the same period, 672 new patients were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease.
According to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday, August 9, the two deaths occurred in the 24 hours leading up to 8am today.
During this period, 672 patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue, bringing the total number of hospitalisations this year to 19,345. Among them, 17,844 patients have been discharged so far, including 511 in the last 24 hours.
According to divisional data, among the patients hospitalised in the last 24 hours, the highest number—267—were in Dhaka division. Additionally, 84 were admitted in Barishal division, 88 in Chattogram, 140 in Khulna, 27 in Mymensingh and 57 in Rajshahi divisions.
Month-wise data shows that two deaths were recorded in January and February, one in May, 13 in June, 36 in July, and seven so far in August this year.
