Two suspects in extremist activities sent to jail after remand
Two men arrested on suspicion of involvement in extremist group activities in Dhaka's Jatrabari area have been sent to jail after the completion of their second round of remand.
Metropolitan Magistrate Al Biruni Mir passed the order on Saturday, July 11, after Jatrabari Police produced Shah Amanat Sabir and Hossain Tanim before the court following their three-day remand. The court granted the police's application to keep them in custody.
Four other individuals arrested in the same case—Junayed, Ataullah Shah, Abidur Rahman and Bayezid—were sent to jail on July 8 after their remand period ended.
Police said they conducted a raid on July 5 in the Mini Cox's Bazar area of Jatrabari based on intelligence reports, where several people had gathered for training activities linked to extremist groups. Six were detained as they tried to flee, and later arrested under Section 54 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Investigators believe the detainees may be involved with militant organisations, though the case is still pending before the court.
