UK envoy calls on PM
The British High Commissioner to Dhaka, Sarah Cooke, has paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister's Office in the National Parliament Building on Thursday.
The Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary, Shahadat Hossain Shadhin, confirmed the matter.
The Deputy Press Secretary stated that during the meeting, the British High Commissioner expressed hope for further strengthening the existing relations between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom under the tenure of the current government.
During the meeting, proposals for cooperation from the British government in the technical education institutions and training sectors were offered. Additionally, the possibilities of increasing trade between Bangladesh and the UK and expanding British investment in Bangladesh were discussed, which would create new employment opportunities in the country.
Shahadat Hossain Shadhin added that the British High Commissioner also expressed interest in British investment in the aviation sector following the launch of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and the Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir were present at the meeting.
