Umama Fatema boycotts DUCSU
Dhaka University vice president candidate and anti-discrimination student movement coordinator Umama Fatema has boycotted Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), citing widespread irregularities in poll.
She posted a Facebook status at 3pm on Wednesday, describing the vote as a “completely shamelessly rigged election.” She wrote:
“Boycott! Boycott! I have boycotted DUCSU. After August 5, the DU administration has brought shame to the nation. A faction-led administration.”
In another post around 2:30am, she added, “The circus continues. Who’s watching?!”
The announcement comes after voting on Tuesday, when multiple candidates raised allegations of large-scale manipulation and irregularities during the election process.
