Unidentified bodies recovered from two rivers in Munshiganj

Police have recovered the bodies of an unidentified woman and man from two separate rivers in Gazaria, Munshiganj on the same day. The bodies were found on Saturday, December 6, from different points of the Meghna and Kajoli rivers.

According to locals, around 12 pm, fishermen spotted the body of a woman trapped near the banks of the Meghna River in Duburchar area of Hosendi union. Police later recovered the body, believed to be of a woman aged approximately 35. Residents suspect that the body may have drifted with the current and got stuck along the riverbank.

About an hour and a half later, locals found another body in the Kajoli River at Das Kandi area of Middle Bausia under Bausia union. Naval police confirmed it was the body of a man, aged around 36. Separate teams from Gazaria police station and naval police visited both spots after receiving information.

Sharjit Kumar Ghosh, officer-in-charge of Gazaria naval police, said both bodies have been recovered and sent to the police station. Measures have been taken to identify them.

Officer-in-charge of Gazaria police station Anwar Alam Azad said police have informed the Police Bureau of Investigation for identification purposes. Both police teams are jointly investigating the matter. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, and the details will be clear after the post-mortem report.
