Unused data to be added to new pack: BTRC
From now on unused internet data will be added to the new package as Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has withdrew its previously set ceiling.
This means that users will no longer lose the unused data that currently vanishes due to a package's time limit.
Up to 50GB of unused data from the previous term was limited to carry over to the next term.
According to BTRC's revised new data package instructions, the entire amount of unused data of the customer in the previous package should be added to the new period.
At the beginning of the new year, the regulatory body informed the mobile operators of this decision.
Views Bangladesh has been informed by the operators that the instructions of BTRC have already been implemented.
BTRC's earlier data package guidelines said, "A customer can carry forward the unused data of the previous package if he re-purchases the package (with variations in terms or volume etc.) before the expiry of the package. In this case, the customer will get this carry forward up to a maximum of 50 GB.”
The new amendment states, "On expiry of the customer's data package, the unused data bonus will be carried forward if the customer purchases the same data package (albeit of a different duration) before the expiry of the previous package."
Common customers will benefit from BTRC's new decision. Earlier, BTRC had discontinued three and 15 days packages for mobile internet packages considering customer interest. As a result, the strategy of cheating customers in the trap of packages is stopped and the opportunity for customers to use more data for a longer period at a lower price is created. BTRC, the regulatory body of the telecommunication sector, has taken another positive step to protect the interests of the customers by removing the previous limit in adding the unused data to the new package.
