US delegation reaches Dhaka, Lu due in afternoon

A high-level delegation of 5 members led by Brent Neiman, Assistant Secretary for International Finance at the US Department of the Treasury, has arrived in Dhaka.

The flight carrying the delegation landed in Dhaka on Saturday (September 14) morning. Foreign Ministry DG (North America) Khandaker Masudul Alam welcomed them at the airport.

US State Department Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia Donald Lu will arrive in Dhaka in the afternoon after completing his Delhi visit.

This is the first visit of a US delegation to Dhaka after the formation of the interim government.

According to the foreign ministry sources, Washington will pay importance to economic and development relations with Bangladesh. Besides, the delegation will discuss the needs of overcoming the current crisis in Bangladesh. At the same time, there will be a discussion on how to cooperate in the future.

The members of the US delegation are scheduled to have courtesy meetings with Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain and several other advisers of the interim government.
